Hotel Relais Chateaux Villa Crespi (four stars) is a splendid residence in Moorish style. Cristoforo Benigno Crespi, a pioneer of the cotton industry, built in 1879 this unique property.
As a result of his long journeys in the East, the building is a Moorish-eclectic masterpiece. The realization is entrusted to the architect Colla. Every corner of the villa is a discovery. For example the majestic hall with the splendid Florentine mosaic floor Secondly the ornamented walls that end on the ceiling with a starry sky in pure Moorish style. Further the inlaid windows of a thousand decors and the wonderful wooden parquet.
An imposing minaret dominate the Hotel Relais Chateaux Villa Crespi. Likewise a large park overlooking Lake Orta sorround the exclusive property. The minaret, which recalls the Arab architectural style, has become after that one of the most recognizable and emblematic symbols of Lake Orta.
It has 6 double rooms and 8 suites equipped with every comfort, with four-poster beds and valuable furnishings from the 18th and 19th centuries.
In the hotel there is a conference room for 150 people, a swimming pool and a pier on the lake.
The exclusive environment of “Relais & Chateaux Villa Crespi” also has a prestigious 2-Michelin-star restaurant. The renomate restaurant is managed directly by a famous Italian chef. He personally takes care of offering a refined Mediterranean cuisine with the most famous Italian wines, French and international.
Relais & Chateaux Villa Crespi is located at the entrance of the town of Orta San Giulio, the most renowned village of Lago d’Orta. That is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, characterized by very picturesque narrow streets. One of these leads to the Sacro Monte, a Unesco World Heritage site, with its 20 chapels frescoed by Morazzone. The central street of the village arrives in Piazza Motta. From the main pier several boats leave to the various towns of the lake and to the Island of San Giulio. The small island is also known as the “Island of silence”. On the top there is a Basilica of the century IV, rebuilt in the IX and XI centuries. Nearby there is also the Monastery of Clausura of the Benedictine nuns
Lake Orta, or Cusio, is located west of Lake Maggiore, entirely in Piedmont. The eastern side has the gentle slopes of the hills. These highlands separate it from Lake Maggiore. The highest mountain is Mount Mottarone. The western shores are instead more impervious and steep. In other words the hills leave space here in the mountains of Valstrona and nearby Valsesia.
