History of the villa

Villa Rubini Redaelli was built in the late nineteenth century by Engineer Giulio Rubini. He was the last owner of the Ferriera di Dongo. The factory was founded in the sixteenth century and purchased by the Rubini family at the end of the 18th century. The engineer, great-grandfather of the current owner, gave the ironwork to his sister Irene, wife of Giorgio Enrico Falck, at the beginning of the last century.
Giulio Rubini bought the family villa from the noble family Rumi, razed it to the ground and built the current in classic lake style as a wedding present for his daughter Luigia who was married to Lino Redaelli, representative of a family from Lecco who owns steel plants.
The villa, in particular the garden, were completely renovated in the early sixties of the last century at the behest of Count Alberto del Bono thanks to a revolutionary project by the architect Francesco Clerici.

Position

Dongo, located in the western part of Lake Como, near the famous towns of Tremezzo and Cadenabbia, is a small city about two hours drive from Milan, one hour from Como and Lugano (Switzerland) and two hours from St. Moritz (Switzerland). The airports of Milan Linate, Malpensa and Orio al Serio are only an hour and a half away. The nearest train station is in Colico, about twenty minutes by car or hydrofoil, whose pier is right next to the Villa. The village has a wonderful view up to Bellagio in the south, and towards Gravedona and the end of Lake Como to the north
